WTBTS is no different than any other business/corporation. They also know how to give out pink slips!
At least a secular business/corporation has the decency of admitting the real reasons (bad economy, hard times, business is slow). Whereas WTBTS puts some stupid, nonsense 'spiritual' spin on it to avoid 'egg in their face.'
there are 3 really basic releases for the dc this year.
revised vol 1 of young people ask.................hmmm lot of work in that one.

You're right, basically the paragraph says the Elders have the power to be judge and executioner.
Scary how much power the WTBTS places in the hands of untrained 'janitor' type Elders!

To further the case regarding WTBTS' need to know in the past about how many anointed or those partaking there are: The instruction to either the servers or attendants at past memorials always and I stress always (unless I'm mistaken) has been to keep count/track of those partaking, report it to a member of the service committee and it goes thru the channels.........and who ultimatley winds up with the worldwide tally...................'Mother'. Why? Because she has always 'had a need to know.'
The organization is all about numbers! Unless of course those numbers begin to backfire, as in this case of those who are currently partaking. Then it changes as this new WT states 'we do not need to know'.
I think its' the WTBTS who is going thru some 'mental discomfort' right about now over this blunder of their own making!

BULLPUCKY: WTBTS in the past always had a need to know the number of annointed as a few of many quotes below reveal (until of course it started to get embarrassing):

This number of partakers continues to get smaller and smaller each year.W 1/1/69 pg 26 par 18

Local needs talks of this nature are just another form of public humiliation by the 'loving' Elder arrangement. Too many times it is not only the individual or individuals involved but also family members that have to sit through the embarrassment of it all. As 'Blondie' says many in the congregation are able to put 2 and 2 together.
Usually the Elder giving the talk gets a big 'rush' out of the whole thing. After meeting he gets a 'high-five' by the rest of the body.
They may have nipped something in the bud (or Not) by the talk, but only at the R & F's expense.

elderelite: 'We have just as much to lose as anyone else in leaving. we choose to hide and perhaps do some small good while we lurk.' You are the minority I mentioned earlier. And you are to be commended and I appreciate your situation.
Pride, power & prestige may be some reasons why Elders stay & serve. The 'fear' factor also plays a part as yet another reason why some/most/many Elders stay & serve in the organization (despite being aware of the serious flaws). Fear of man, fear of the organization, fear of offending the wife, fear that others will be disappointed in you if you step down. Fear of losing ones' status quo.....................

Sad to say, prestige is a big factor. Another big factor would be pride, IMO.
Of course there are those 'older men' who truly do serve in the capacity of Elder with the proper motive, however they are in the minority, again IMO.
You would think that the many obvious flaws of the WTBTS and its' teachings would be enough for an honest man to opt out or step down as Elder. So such factors as prestige and pride may be what causes him to want to stay and continue serving.
The feeling of power may be another factor that keeps an individual serving.
